Deep Calls Unto Deep… Can You Hear Him Calling You? © 2008 – Gail M. Hayes
Even at this stage of my life, God is still teaching me to step into destiny. He has not given up on me and that He still gives me opportunities to experience the power of His love as it draws me like a magnet to destiny.
I’ve also discovered that when we decide to use our gifts and step into destiny, resistance follows. The resistance is not always from our enemy but can be from that little voice within us that whispers our name and sprinkles the dust of self-doubt on our promises. It can also be the ugly remnants of past experiences that cling to the inner lining of our hearts as we try to make the jump to the light speed of freedom. When this happens, we miss the stars and galaxies of wonder that speed past us because of the acts of cruelty that left us broken.
A friend recently told me about her frustration at work. She was finally working on a project that she loved but there was a problem. The work had little direction. She was a part of a dynamic team and yet, they didn't seem to be accomplishing much.
When a decision needed to be made, no one would step forward to make the decision. After some exasperating conversations and many details falling through the cracks, she realized that although the team was wonderful, someone ultimately needed to be a decision maker. She prayed and God told her to stand to her feet and be a leader. This was not what she wanted to hear.
She was uncomfortable because she didn’t want anyone to think that she was bossy. Ultimately, she wanted to be liked and leaders are not always popular. She still bore the stripes of past abuse because she had stepped forward to lead. She still felt fear as it gripped her heart when she tried to break free.
Pride blinded her and dread held her captive. But then the light of God’s voice and the firmness of His instruction overrode her fears. With relentless passion, the Father loved her into submission. She obeyed and at the next meeting began to direct the other team members. As she began to lead, she noticed that the project came to life.
Remember that deep calls unto deep! So, on your feet! Your deep Father is calling you! |
